The Career Horizons Expo by Out of the Blue which was held in the Clayton Hotel Silver Springs in Cork on September 24th offered attendees networking, recruitment, and upskilling opportunities. The aim was to help frontline workers, including Gardai, emergency services and military personnel to transition smoothly into new careers.

MTU colleagues were on hand to speak about the range of flexible and agile courses available across a range of disciplines for those wishing to upskill or change career direction. Dr Deirdre Goggin from MTU Extended Campus provided insights into educational pathways for career transitions available through MTU which included an overview on Recognition of Prior Learning. Additionally, Jackie Kehoe, from CyberSkills, shared her expertise on digital career opportunities and upskilling in the tech sector, which the Government considers a critical area in ensuring Ireland can meet the challenges in the future.

MTU was represented by colleagues from the Extended Campus (Dr Deirdre Goggin & Sean Donovan), Business Academy (Isabel Rossiter), CAMMS (Dr Ciara Lavelle) and the Department of Sport, Leisure & Childhood Studies (Dr Andrea Bickerdike) who were available to speak with attendees about further education opportunities.
