01 October, 2024

Two talented students from Munster Technological University's Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Marketing programme have been announced as finalists in the Cork Chamber Digital Marketing Awards 2024. Both students have been shortlisted in the Best Digital Marketing Student category, recognised for their outstanding performance during their industry placements earlier this year.

Michelle Butler, who completed her placement with Kearys Motor Group, has emerged as one of the finalists. Michelle was also a finalist in the MTU Marketing Intern of the Year competition, reflecting her dedication and excellence in digital marketing.

"I’m thrilled to be nominated for ‘Best Digital Marketing Student’ at the Cork Chamber Digital Marketing Awards 2024. My placement at Kearys Motor Group has been a standout experience during my time at MTU, allowing me to deepen my skills and knowledge in digital marketing. I'm incredibly grateful for the recognition and want to thank the team at Kearys and all my lecturers at MTU for their support," said Michelle.

Ciara Lee completed placement at The Crann Centre. "I am thrilled to have been nominated for Best Digital Marketing Student at the Cork Chamber Digital Marketing Awards! This recognition reflects everything I've learned from my colleagues and mentors at The Crann Centre and the knowledge I was able to develop from my studies in MTU. Witnessing the impactful work Crann does is inspirational, I feel privileged to have been part of it during my internship”

Dr. Katie Power, Head of the Department of Marketing & International Business at MTU, praised the students' achievements, stating, "We are incredibly proud of our students, who continuously add real value to the organisations they work with. Being named a finalist in the Cork Chamber Digital Marketing Awards is a significant achievement, and everyone in the department wishes Michelle and Ciara the very best of luck."

The Cork Chamber Digital Marketing Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in digital marketing across Cork's business community, and being shortlisted in this competitive category speaks volumes about the quality of the students’ work and the guidance they received during their placement experience.
