MTU Receives Prestigious DELTA Award

27 May, 2021

MTU has been awarded its second National DELTA Award (Disciplinary Excellence in Teaching Learning & Assessment) for Entrepreneurship Teaching and Learning (T&L).

This prestigious award from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education recognises the contribution made by MTU’s Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence and its vision of entrepreneurship that makes MTU an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the provision of career-focused education.

The multidisciplinary application team of staff and students from across the University were involved in a six-month application process culminating in an online review with a large international judging panel.

Accepting the award on behalf of her colleagues, Dr Helen McGuirk, Head of the Hincks Centre and Team Lead said, “This award represents the value of people working together and succeeding together to empower people to achieve excellence in entrepreneurship”.

Ms McGuirk offered her warmest congratulations to all the staff and students involved in the entrepreneurship T&L ecosystem at MTU who support entrepreneurship and innovation in all its forms.

MTU President, Professor Maggie Cusack, expressed her delight at MTU’s success in renewing the National DELTA Award adding, “since our previous DELTA award in 2018, we have grown, enhanced, and widened student opportunities, particularly in the social entrepreneurship area with a renewed focus on societal, sustainable, and environmental impact. We have built on our research capacity through an increase in entrepreneurship-focused PhD researchers and PhD graduates in this field and increased participation in staff CPD”.
