CIT Identified as Design for Innovation Training Partner for the Public Sector.

07 February, 2020

CIT has been identified as a partner to deliver training in Design Thinking and Service Design as part of Our Public Service (OPS) 2020 framework.

CIT has established itself as a national leader in Service Design and Design Thinking training, through the delivery of a 3-month, part-time, Special Purpose Award in Designing Innovative Services, it’s partnership with Cork County Council, and through research links with national and multinational partners.

As a result of the new partnership, CIT can now deliver 2-day workshops to public servants, facilitating in-depth discussion and exploration of the practicalities involved in delivering Service Design and Design Thinking in the public sector.

The first of these workshops took place with the Department of Justice and Quality (DOJQ) Service Design team at the Bishopstown Campus in January 2020.

Dr Fred Creedon and Ms Hillary Coghlan from the CIT School of Business delivered a 2-day training programme presenting definitions, methods of practice, and tools for reflection. By travelling to Cork, the DOJQ Service Design team who normally operate from Dublin City were able fully immerse themselves in the theory and application of Design Thinking and Service Design.

Our Public Service 2020 has identified enabling innovation in the Irish Public Sector as a strategic objective and during the inaugural Public Service Innovation week 9th – 13th of December 2019, CIT’s Innovation & Enterprise team and Dr Fred Creedon also delivered a free 2-hour workshop to public servants.
