Beyond IoT 2020 Conference Announced for January 20&21

26 November, 2019

CIT’s Nimbus Research Centre presents ‘Beyond IoT’, Ireland’s largest IoT event, on January 20 & 21 at the Bishopstown Campus.

Bringing the brightest and the best from the global tech world to Cork, the Nimbus Research Centre has combined forces with angel investor Brandon Donnelly to present this unique event focusing on Visionary and Deep Technology.

Now in its third year, Beyond IoT features top tier entrepreneurs and strategic thinkers from across the globe, sharing their views on emerging technology trends, opportunities and threats.

Sally Eaves, tech author, influencer and award-winning international keynote speaker, will take centre stage as event MC. The line-up also includes Lauren Knausenberger, U.S. Airforce, Andrew MacAdam, Microsoft, Gillian Bergin of it@cork, Dave Troy, 410 Labs and the much-anticipated return of John Biggs, News Editor of CoinDesk.

Due to increased demand, this year's event is being held over two days, incorporating two stages and will include workshops presented by the Nimbus team along with international technology and commercialisation experts will guide both new and established companies on their technology voyage of discovery.

Clinics featuring experts in technology, investment, funding avenues, entrepreneurship and academic research will provide invaluable advice and guidance on investment, drive technology innovation, creating collaborations, and fostering new commercial relationships.

Richard Linger, Nimbus Research Centre Manager, said the event will move further afield in the coming years. “Our objectives are not just to have Beyond IoT in Cork but we are finalising arrangements with the US and China. Next year, we will definitely have Beyond IoT in China,” he said. “In 2021, we will have three events around the world; one in Europe in Cork; one in China, probably in Shanghai; and one in the US in a location to be determined.”

The Gartner industry report indicates that 8.4 billion connected things are in use worldwide, up 31% from 2016, and will reach 20.4 billion by 2020. With total spending on endpoints and services surpassing almost $2 trillion, this is an essential event for all who want to understand where this new wave of technology and investment is heading and how it can be best harnessed and utilised.
