CIT Partner with Network Cork to Host Workshop Wednesday
13 November, 2019
CIT’s Melbourn Building played hosted to Network Cork’s ‘Workshop Wednesday’ event on Wednesday, November 6.
Workshop Wednesday is a monthly event held by Network Cork as part of their ongoing initiative to enhance the skillset of women in the workplace, offering a morning of learning, networking and development.
This month's workshops covered a broad range of personal and professional interests and included:
- Video Editing Crash Course with Judie Russell, Vidacademy
- The Importance of Knowing Your Numbers with Billy O’Connor, Discovery Partnership
- Focus on Priorities: How we think about time matters! with Gillian McGrath, Change Grow Succeed
- Health and Nutrition with Jennifer and Niall O’Callaghan, Everyday Nutrition Fitness & Wellbeing
- Resilient Her with Barbara Nugent, Transilient Coaching
- Digital Marketing Strategy with CIT lecturer Vivienne Griffin
- A 15-minute presentation on leadership by Betty and Miriam from Mojo for Leaders.
Each workshop ran for one hour so members were given the tough task of choosing which three to pick! Karen O’Brien of Heritage Wealth Financial Planning found it difficult to decide which workshops to attend as they were six very relevant topics.
“As a director of a business, I picked up a lot of tips and hints both on a practical side, in terms of running and growing a business but also a lot of really inspiring messages for me personally as a woman in business. As always with the Network Cork events, getting the opportunity to meet so many of the interesting and inspiring women in business is fantastic, so the networking alone is excellent”, she said.
Jen O’Callaghan from Everyday Nutrition Fitness & Wellbeing said, “It was great to be part of Workshop Wednesday and I was delighted to be able to inform women about the importance of self-care. It’s really important for women to take care of themselves and to take time out, we need to nourish ourselves not only with food but also with self-care”.
New member, Kate Rice from The River Lee Hotel, felt her first Network Cork event was a very informative morning with like-minded businesswomen in Cork. “It was a wonderful opportunity to network and meet women in the industry. The workshops were really relevant and I can apply them in my personal and business life”.
Michelle Collins, lecturer and Placement Co-ordinator at CIT said, “We were thrilled to partner with Network Cork again for this year’s Workshop Wednesday event. Continued education and training are essential to success in today’s workplace and CIT was delighted to be able to facilitate this event.”
The occasion was Gillian Hennessy’s final outing as President of Network Cork and she praised CIT for its collaboration with business and industry. “CIT is always so generous with their kindness and expertise. We’ve loved having them as part of our extended family and today's event was a great way to end my year as President.”
