Connect with CIT – 12th February 2019 12-3pm

12 December, 2018

Cork Institute of Technology Extended Campus together with Careers Service are delighted to announce the return of their networking event for SMEs at CIT on February 12, 2019.

Connect with CIT is a free event designed for micro and smaller companies (up to 100 employees) who are interested in establishing links with CIT to create opportunities to develop their business.

CIT Careers Officer, Treasa Morgan says, “Through Connect with CIT, the Careers Service is delighted to further support smaller companies in meeting students, raising brand awareness and highlighting the varied opportunities available in their organisations”.

The event will be divided in to two sessions:

12-2pm: Meet with CIT student and graduates at a mini Careers Fair to highlight work placement and recruitment opportunities with your company. #CareerChatswithCIT

2-3pm: You will then have a chance to meet lecturers and programme coordinators, over a light lunch, to discuss how you can develop links with CIT staff and researchers. Companies who have previously collaborated with CIT will share their experiences and the support they received, including information on the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Vouchers initiative. #CollaboratewithCIT

Last year’s event was a great success with over 90% of attendees saying they found it beneficial. Speakers included John Brennan, of ePresence Internet Marketing who took part in the work placement programme, and David McCarthy from Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind who collaborated with CAMMS and received his Lean Sigma Green Belt from CIT.

Kathy O’Dwyer, Founder and Director of Career Training Internships shared how working with CIT’s Nimbus Research Centre through Enterprise Ireland’s €5,000 Innovation Voucher helped to expand her company.

Professor Irene Sheridan of CIT Extended Campus believes that companies really benefit from hearing how others have engaged with CIT. “A lot of new interactions have arisen from last year's event an I’m sure Connect with CIT will unlock even more ideas and opportunities”, she said.

President of the Cork Business Association, Philip Gillivan, who attended last year, said he was particularly encouraged by the interaction between the companies and students on the day. “I am confident that Cork is in safe hands going forward judging by the calibre of students I met from CIT. Overall, it was a very well-organised event”.
