Certificate in Supervisory Management Programme
20 November, 2018
Cork Institute of Technology are delighted to announce the Certificate in Supervisory Management Programme will run at the Bishopstown Campus in November.
This Special Purpose Award, developed in collaboration with IT Tralee and the South West Regional Skills Forum, has already had two successful deliveries in 2018 at IT Tralee in response to industry demand for this type of Continuing Professional Development support, with companies including Tricel, Dairymaster, Borgwarner, Astellas and MSL Engineering participating.
The programme is a professional upskilling solution to meet the needs of multiple industry sectors in the region as identified by the work of the industry-led South West Regional Skills Forum.
It’s been designed for organisations wishing to provide continuous professional development for staff aspiring to, or already in, supervisory or managerial roles and is suitable for an extensive range of industry sectors from manufacturing to service organisations.
Skillnets funding secured for all programme participants for the first Cork delivery through CorkChamber/Biopharma Chem Skillnet.
The programme incorporates both institution’s in-house academic experts: CIT’s Department of Organisation and Professional Development, CIT’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Management Systems (CAMMs), and the Department of Business at IT Tralee.
It offers participants, who may or may not have a third level qualification, a reintroduction to education and the opportunity to acknowledge their experiential learning in the context of a destination award.
It is delivered on a part-time basis, one day per week, over six months. A phased approach, consisting of a series of lectures, facilitated workshops and work-related projects will be used to ensure that the programme is relevant, engaging and enjoyable.
The programme is structured around 4 modules:
• People Management including Conflict and Mediation
• Introduction to Operations Excellence: Lean Practitioner
• Introduction to Management Practice
• Performance Management
Lecturers on the programme will bring a unique blend of academic qualifications, incorporating manufacturing, business, human resource management, management accounting, work and organisational psychology, together with comprehensive industry experience & backgrounds in management, training and change management.
The learner will be supported throughout the programme, which includes an induction session focussing on work-life harmony, group work and academic resources. The emphasis is on action learning, so that practical classroom exercises can be seamlessly transferred back to the workplace. This Certificate in Supervisory Management Programme also serves as a gateway for learners who wish to pursue further awards at Level 7, 8 and 9 and avail of Recognition of Prior Learning.
