31 October, 2018

On October 23 Cork University Hospital in association with the South West Lean Forum hosted ‘The Lean Journey: Improving Patient Experience’ event.

The Southwest Lean Forum (SWLF) was established in 2018. Consisting of representatives from educational, industry, government and public bodies, the Forum aims to facilitates the sharing of Lean system experiences and best practices for members in the South West region.

As members of the Forum, CIT’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Management Systems (CAMMS) presented several interesting discussions on Lean Sigma operations, an interactive workshop on brainstorming and presentations on practical real-life case studies.

CAMMS have been assisting the Cork University Hospital for several years in optimising the performance of their 20 operating theatres, including resource deployment and process issues. The hospital has seen substantial resource savings because of this work.

In addition to Lean Sigma, CAMMS deliver education and training programs in Automation and Control, Project Management and Manufacturing Engineering.
