CIT Cork School of Music and the Crawford Art Gallery have joined forces in a new creative partnership entitled ‘Music at Midday’.
On the first Sunday of each month CIT Cork School of Music students will perform at midday at the Crawford Art Gallery while patrons peruse the exhibitions.
Performances will rotate into different spaces within the Gallery allowing music to be heard with new ears and artwork to be viewed in a new light.
December’s recital will feature the Sunrise Quartet, who will play in the Long Room Gallery at 12pm on Sunday December 2, and for those who wish to spend longer in the Gallery, the Crawford Café will also be open for brunch and lunch.
Head of School at CIT Cork School of Music, Aiveen Kearney said CIT Cork School of Music is delighted to collaborate with the Crawford Art Gallery for Music at Midday.
“These events capture the true essence of community in the arts and strengthen the relationship between our two organisations”, Ms Kearney added.
Director of the Crawford Art Gallery, Mary McCarthy, said CIT Cork School of Music is an exceptional contributor to the cultural fabric of Ireland, adding that its commitment to quality and the future of music and musicians in Ireland is inspirational. “Music at Midday is an exciting new partnership where art forms coalesce, and new conversations are ignited", Ms McCarthy said.
