CIT Host Network Cork Wednesday Workshop Event

CIT Host Network Cork Wednesday Workshop Event

09 November, 2018

Network Cork partnered with Cork Institute of Technology to host an exclusive workshop series on Wednesday November 7 at CIT’s Bishopstown Campus.

The event received very positive feedback from all participants and President of Network Cork, Karen Fleming, said that having an opportunity to host an event on the campus was a brilliant experience.

"A significant number of our members are graduates of this fine institution and many of our companies also now rely on welcoming CIT graduates as colleagues so there are many links already in place.

"The Melbourn Building as a venue was hugely impressive, as was the Training Restaurant and the team at CIT could not have been more supportive in the run up to, and during this event", Ms Fleming said.

The Workshop Wednesday ran as part of the calendar of monthly events coordinated by Network Cork for members and guests. There were 12 workshops available on the day, addressing a variety of subjects from social media to entrepreneurship.

Louise Bunyan from Smartfox shared insider know-how on maximising your Linkedin profile; Karen Goodliffe from Her Money advised on fearless financial planning and Jennifer Davies from Captured HR offered insights on hiring the right people for your business.

Network Cork also availed of some on-site expertise with CIT staff presenting several workshops. Donagh Davern, lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality, focused on the attraction and retention of millennials in the workplace while Dr David Goulding of the Department of Computer Science hosted a workshop on the uses of Microsoft Excel for data analysis.

Dr Helen McGuirk from the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence explored the possibilities of change, through education, upskilling and self-employment and this theme was continued with a tour of the Rubicon Centre, including presentations on female entrepreneurship programmes and SME funding. The event concluded with a three-course lunch in the CIT Hospitality Training Restaurant.

Ms Fleming said that Network Cork looks forward to welcoming female staff, students and graduates as members and to building on their great relationship with CIT into the future.
