MSc in Digital Marketing Strategy - Research Showcase

MSc in Digital Marketing Strategy - Research Showcase

26 September, 2018

The first Action Research Showcase for the MSc in Digital Marketing Strategy took place in CIT’s Curve Gallery earlier this month. The MSc Digital Marketing Strategy cohort are the first to complete the part-time course and proudly presented their work via a poster presentation, the penultimate assessment in their two-year journey.

The Masters in Digital Marketing Strategy is a two year, part-time, Level 9 course, offered on campus or online. The program is aimed at those working in traditional and digital marketing roles or those seeking a senior position requiring a solid foundation in multiple aspects of digital marketing.

Having spent 8 months working on live organisational problems across various industries, students presented their digital case studies to fellow masters students, staff and industry partners on the night. These live company projects have proven to be an invaluable learning experience, developing research and project management capabilities, while also perfecting digital marketing skills.

Topics included an investigation of the most effective way to engage the domestic family tourism consumer via a website to increase referral rates; exploring the impact of SEO, Google analytics and AdWords on a not-for-profit organisation; determining the impact of a niche marketing strategy for an online Irish wool craft brand and assessing the impact of digital marketing enablement programs on channel partner performance.

Speaking at the showcase, Dr Pio Fenton, Head of Marketing & International Business at CIT, said, “Digital Marketing is subject to such rates of change that collaboration with industry is a necessity for the currency of the programme and its content.

“Our Showcase really highlighted how effective this programme is in leading substantial change within industry. The students on this programme balanced busy professional lives with their academic undertaking and the intersection of the two was really clear in the output of their action research projects.”
