Food Photography and Styling Course

25 October, 2017

The Food Photography & Styling course offered by the Tourism and Hospitality Department CIT, began in September 2017. The course, which serves as an introduction to food photography, writing and image sharing, will run from September to December every Thursday night for 3 hours.

The course is a Level 7 course and is worth 5 credits. Students on this course come from all four corners of Ireland and range from professional chefs to photography enthusiasts to food writers to café owners and home bakers looking to add another string to their bow. Topics covered on the course include principles of design, camera and computer basics, photoshoots in a photographic studio as well as on site, image processing and storage.

Food photography is a worldwide phenomenon and here in CIT, we dedicate time to the marketing potential and technicalities of sharing images on social media platforms. With interest in food at an all-time high, this course is a fantastic offering to industry professionals who want to upskill in the area. The course is delivered by Feargal Cunningham, Shaunagh O’Connell and John Hartnett who between them provide a blend of historical knowledge, artistic practice and commercial experience.
