24 March, 2017
Stephen O'Leary was the 4th speaker in the CIT Marketing Seminar Series. He founded his social media monitoring and analysing company, Olytico, in 2009 and has experienced success ever since.
The message he was delivering to the class was to always question where your data comes from before making any irrational decisions. As a company you should follow your customers conversations and find out if you are 'loved or hated' by them. Olytico are predominantly are B2B company but would also interact in B2C channels. Their main priority is to follow the key phrases and to exclude any irrelevant information that would mislead their client.
There was a Q&A session after the presentation and one question asked was what would he look for when hiring an employee. His response was having the ability of story-telling would make him hire a graduate. Stephen supported his answer by explaining that story-telling makes data sound more exciting to the clients.
